How to use the converter
- Choose Men, Women, Kids (1C to 13.5C) or Big kids (1Y to 7Y).
- Type a size in US, UK, EU or Foot length (cm). The other three boxes fill in and the matching chart row is highlighted.
- If your foot length falls between two sizes, the tool shows the larger one and says so, so your toes are not cramped.
- Switching tabs keeps the same EU size, so a men's 10 becomes a women's 11.5 for the same shoe.
How the sizes are calculated
US men's sizes step by one barleycorn, a third of an inch: size is about 3 x foot length in inches - 22. US women's sizes use the same step from a different starting point (about 3 x foot length - 21), which is why a women's size is 1.5 above the men's size for the same shoe. UK men's sizes are one below US men's sizes, and UK women's sizes are 2.5 below US women's. EU sizes (Paris points) step by two thirds of a centimeter. Some brands differ: adidas, for one, lists UK half a size below US. The rows in this tool follow Nike's men's, women's and kids' charts for EU and foot length in inches, with the formulas from Wikipedia's shoe size article as a cross-check. Foot length in centimeters is inches times 2.54.
Worked example: men's US 10
The tool opens on the Men tab with US 10. Foot length is (10 + 22) / 3 = 10.67 inches, which is 27.1 cm. UK is 10 - 1 = 9 and EU is 44. The sentence under the boxes reads:
Men's: US 10 = UK 9 = EU 44. Foot length 27.1 cm (10.7 in). Women's equivalent: US 11.5.
Limits and edge cases
- Ranges. Men's US 4 to 15, women's US 5 to 15, kids 1C to 13.5C, big kids 1Y to 7Y. A size outside the chart gets a message, not the nearest end of the chart.
- Unlisted sizes. Sizes go in half steps (kids' 1C to 10C in whole steps). Something like US 9.25 shows the nearest listed size and says it did.
- Kids' UK scale. It restarts at 1 after 13.5, so 1Y is UK 13.5 and 1.5Y is UK 1. Keeping C and Y on separate tabs avoids mix-ups.
- Foot length, not shoe length. Some charts list a CM or Mondopoint column that is the shoe length (Nike lists a men's US 10 as 28 cm). This tool uses the foot length, so US 10 shows 27.1 cm. Width labels such as B, D and 2E are not covered.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert men's shoe sizes to women's?
Add 1.5 to the US men's size to get the women's size for the same shoe, and subtract 1.5 to go the other way. A men's 10 is a women's 11.5, and both are UK 9 and EU 44 in this converter.
How do I find my shoe size in centimeters?
Stand on paper with your heel against a wall, mark your longest toe and measure the distance in centimeters. Type it in the Foot length (cm) box. A men's US 10 is a foot about 27.1 cm long, and a women's US 8 is about 24.6 cm.
Why is the UK shoe size lower than the US size?
The two scales use the same step, one third of an inch, but start from different points. UK men's sizes are one below US men's sizes, and UK women's sizes are 2.5 below US women's sizes.
Are kids' shoe sizes the same scale as adult sizes?
No. Kids' US sizes run from 1C to 13.5C, then restart at 1Y for big kids and run to 7Y, close to a men's 7. The converter keeps these as separate Kids and Big kids tabs so a size like UK 1.5 is never ambiguous.
