Set up your repeat

How to repeat text

  1. Type or paste the text into Text to repeat. A single word, an emoji or several lines all work.
  2. Enter a number in Repeat count, from 1 to 10,000. Commas are fine, so 1,000 works.
  3. Choose what goes between the copies under Separator between copies: a new line, space, comma, blank line, nothing, or your own text.
  4. Tick Also add the separator after the last copy if every copy must end with the separator, for example one item per line in a file.
  5. Press Copy repeated text, or Download .txt for a long result.

How the result is built

The tool joins your text with the separator between each pair of copies, so 10 copies have 9 separators (10 when the last-copy option is ticked). The character count shows what you see on screen, so an emoji, a flag or a family group counts as one character even though JavaScript stores it as several code units. That count uses Intl.Segmenter, which follows the grapheme cluster rules in Unicode Standard Annex #29. The copies themselves are built with String.repeat.

Worked example with the default inputs

The default text is Hello, the repeat count is 10 and the separator is New line. The result is ten lines, each reading Hello. The tool reports 10 copies, 59 characters, 10 lines: ten copies of a 5-letter word make 50 characters, plus 9 line breaks between them.

Limits and edge cases

Frequently asked questions

How many times can I repeat text?

Up to 10,000 copies at once. If you enter more, the tool uses 10,000 and says so. The finished result is also capped at 5 million characters, so a very long text with a high count will ask you to lower one of them.

How do I repeat text with each copy on a new line?

Leave Separator between copies on New line, which is the default. Each copy then sits on its own line. Tick Also add the separator after the last copy if the final line should end with a line break too.

Can I repeat emoji?

Yes. Paste the emoji into Text to repeat and the tool copies it exactly, including multi-part emoji such as flags and family groups. In current browsers the character count treats each emoji as one character.

How do I repeat text without spaces?

Set Separator between copies to Nothing (no separator). The copies are joined directly, so ab repeated 3 times gives ababab.

Can I use my own separator?

Yes. Choose Custom separator and type anything, such as a pipe, a dash or a few words. Type \n for a line break and \t for a tab, so \n---\n puts a line of dashes between copies.
