How to find and copy an emoji

This picker holds 1,914 emoji from the Unicode Emoji 17.0 set, grouped the way Unicode groups them. Nothing you click is sent anywhere.

  1. Type a word in Search emoji. Every word you type has to match, so "red heart" is narrower than "heart".
  2. Or press a category button, such as Food & Drink, to browse one group. All shows everything.
  3. Choose a Skin tone. It changes the 330 hand and people emoji that have tones, and your choice is remembered on this device.
  4. Click an emoji. It is copied to your clipboard, added to Your selection and kept under Recently used. Press Copy all to copy several at once.
  5. With a keyboard, Tab into the grid, move with the arrow keys, and press Enter or Space to copy.

How the search works

Names and keywords come from the Unicode CLDR annotations, packaged by Emojibase 17.0.0 (MIT license). A typed word matches when it starts a word in an emoji's name or keywords. Exact names rank first, then names that begin with your word. If nothing matches, the tool falls back to partial matches inside words. The full chart is on unicode.org.

Your device decides what it can draw. The page tests each emoji on a hidden canvas and hides the ones your system would show as empty boxes, with a "Show them anyway" button if you want them.

Worked example

With nothing typed, the line above the grid reads "Showing 1,914 emoji." on a device that can draw them all. Type party and it reads "13 emoji match "party"." with 🥳 partying face first, then 🎉 party popper. Click the popper and the green bar says "party popper copied to the clipboard. It was also added to Your selection."

Frequently asked questions

Why do some emoji show as empty boxes or as two separate pictures?

Your operating system has no artwork for that emoji, usually because it is newer than your system update. This picker hides the ones it can detect. Updating your OS adds new emoji over time.

How do I change an emoji's skin tone?

Press one of the six Skin tone buttons above the grid. Every emoji that supports tones updates at once, and what you copy includes the tone.

Why do flags look like two letters on Windows?

The emoji font in most Windows browsers has no flag artwork, so it draws the two hidden country letters instead. The copied flag still displays correctly on phones, Macs and apps that include flag art.

How do I open an emoji keyboard without this page?

On Windows press the Windows key and the period key. On a Mac press Control, Command and Space. Phones use the emoji key on the on-screen keyboard.
