XML Sitemap Generator

Paste a list of URLs and get a valid sitemap.xml with optional lastmod dates. Bad lines, duplicates and the 50,000 URL limit are checked for you.

Paste your URLs

Write a date as YYYY-MM-DD after the URL (a space, comma or | between them) to give that page its own lastmod.

Google ignores changefreq and priority, and uses lastmod only when it is accurate, so leaving them out is safe.

    How to turn a list of URLs into a sitemap.xml

    This tool wraps the URLs you paste in the sitemap format Google and Bing read. It does not crawl your site, so list every page you want indexed.

    1. URLs: one full address per line, starting with https://. To give a page its own date, add it after the URL, for example https://example.com/about 2026-03-14.
    2. Site address: optional. If your list holds paths such as /about, enter https://example.com and each path is joined to it.
    3. lastmod, changefreq, priority: lastmod can use only the dates you typed (the default), today's date, one date for every URL, or none. Leave changefreq and priority out unless another tool asks for them.
    4. Press Copy or Download sitemap.xml, upload it to your site root so it opens at https://yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml, then submit it under Sitemaps in Google Search Console. You can also list it in your robots.txt file.

    What the tool checks

    Each line goes through your browser's URL parser, so hosts are lowercased, spaces and non-ASCII characters are percent-encoded and #fragments are dropped. The characters & ' " < > are escaped as the sitemap protocol requires, and the elements are written in the required order. Duplicates are removed, lines that are not full URLs are reported by line number, and URLs over 2,047 characters are rejected. You get a warning when your list mixes hosts or protocols.

    Worked example

    The page opens with four URLs, two of them dated, lastmod on "Only the dates I typed" and changefreq and priority left out. The result is 4 URLs and 417 bytes:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <urlset xmlns="http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9">
      <url>
        <loc>https://example.com/</loc>
      </url>
      <url>
        <loc>https://example.com/about</loc>
        <lastmod>2026-03-14</lastmod>
      </url>
      <url>
        <loc>https://example.com/contact</loc>
      </url>
      <url>
        <loc>https://example.com/blog/hello-world</loc>
        <lastmod>2026-09-02</lastmod>
      </url>
    </urlset>

    The home and contact pages have no lastmod because no date was typed after them. Choose "Today for every URL" and all four get your computer's local date.

    Limits and edge cases

    Frequently asked questions

    How do I create a sitemap.xml from a list of URLs?

    Paste one full URL per line, choose whether to add lastmod dates, then copy or download the result. Upload it as sitemap.xml to the root of your site and submit its address in Google Search Console under Sitemaps.

    Does Google use lastmod, changefreq and priority in a sitemap?

    Google ignores changefreq and priority. It uses lastmod only if the value is consistently and verifiably accurate. That is why the tool defaults to the dates you type instead of stamping today's date on every URL.

    How many URLs can one sitemap.xml contain?

    Up to 50,000 URLs and 50 MB uncompressed per file. A bigger site needs several sitemap files tied together by a sitemap index. This tool includes at most 50,000 URLs and tells you when you go over.

    Where do I upload sitemap.xml and how do I submit it to Google?

    Upload it to the root folder so it opens at https://yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml. Then open Google Search Console, choose Sitemaps, enter the file name and press Submit. You can also add a Sitemap: line to your robots.txt file.

    Can one sitemap list URLs from different domains or both http and https?

    Not under the sitemap protocol, which says all URLs in a sitemap must come from a single host, such as www.example.com or store.example.com. Make one sitemap per host and list the https version of each page. The tool warns you when your list mixes hosts or protocols.
