How to use the would you rather generator

This generator shows two choices at a time and asks which one you would rather have. It holds 312 questions in six categories, 52 in each, and keeps a running count of your picks.

  1. Pick a category. All mixes everything, or choose Funny, Hard Choices, Food, Travel, Superpowers or Money.
  2. Read the two cards, labeled Option A and Option B.
  3. Tap or click the one you would rather have. It lights up, your pick is added to Your session stats, and the next question appears after a moment.
  4. Press Next question to skip without voting. Press Reset stats to start a new round, for example when you hand the screen to another player.
  5. Playing in a group? Read both options aloud, let everyone point to a side, then tap the side with more people.

How the questions are chosen

Each category is a fixed list. The page shuffles the list with a Fisher-Yates shuffle driven by crypto.getRandomValues(), then deals questions from the top. A question you have already seen is skipped until you have seen every question in the category you are playing, and the same question never appears twice in a row. Switching categories keeps that memory, so All will not repeat something you just saw in Food.

Worked example

Leave All selected and vote Option A, Option A, then Option B on three questions. Your session stats read Voted 3, Picked A 2 and Picked B 1. All holds 312 questions, so you would see 312 different ones before any repeat. At 20 seconds a question that is about 104 minutes of play. Press Reset stats and all three numbers go back to 0.

Limits and edge cases

The stats count only your own taps during this visit, and reloading the page resets them. Nothing is compared with other players, so there is no "percent of people who picked this" figure. The questions are written to be family-friendly, but a few hard choices touch on memory, money and loss, so skim them first for young children. For a dare-style game, try truth or dare. To decide who answers first, use the random name picker or spin the wheel. For a plain yes or no, use the yes or no generator.

Frequently asked questions

How many would you rather questions does this generator have?

It has 312 questions split evenly across six categories: funny, hard choices, food, travel, superpowers and money, with 52 in each.

Are these would you rather questions suitable for kids?

They are written to be family-friendly, with nothing explicit or violent. Some hard choices cover ideas such as memory, money or loneliness, so read ahead for younger children.

Can I see what other people picked?

No. The page keeps only your own taps for the current visit and does not collect votes, so there are no community percentages.

Will I get the same question twice?

Not until you have seen every question in the category you are playing, and never twice in a row.
